Dore Male Voice Choir – about us

The Choir was formed in 1964 and have gained competition successes in
many national music festivals, including Huddersfield, Morecambe, Blackpool and
Eskdale. The Choir has sung at the prestigious Llangollen
International Eisteddfod on six occasions. Performances have also included
concerts in York Minster and the Albert Hall. The Choir has performed on radio
and TV and has recently produced a new CD.
Overseas concert tours have included visits to Germany, Austria, Paris,
Amsterdam, Cyprus and Jersey. We’ve also been to Bruges, singing in the
cathedral, and Ghent, with an invitation to sing at the Last Post ceremony at
the Menin Gate, Ypres.
In 2007 the Choir went on tour to the Rhineland, with four events,
including a concert in Koblenz and a sing in Cologne cathedral. In 2009 we went
on tour to Cyprus, giving three concerts.
We’re proud to have contributed many thousands of pounds to charity over
the years, from the money we’ve raised from concerts, donations and CD sales.
We often sing with Wigston
Male Voice Choir, our friends for many years, and the two choirs hold an
annual reunion dinner.
Our membership has increased significantly over the past three years.
