Dore Male Voice Choir – about us

Don Valley Festival, 2008

DMVC was formed over 40 years ago. With upward of 60 members, a wide repertoire and an enviable reputation, the Choir enjoys the discipline of festival competitions as well as giving pleasure through music in concerts and on CD.

The Choir has had competition successes in many national music festivals, including  Huddersfield, Morecambe, Blackpool and Eskdale. The Choir has also sung at the prestigious Llangollen International Eisteddfod on six occasions. Performances have also included concerts in York Minster and the Albert Hall. The Choir has performed on radio and TV and has recently produced a new CD.

Overseas concert tours have included visits to Germany, Austria, Paris, Amsterdam, Cyprus and Jersey. We’ve also been to Bruges, singing in the cathedral, and Ghent, with an invitation to sing at the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate, Ypres.

In 2007 the Choir went on tour to the Rhineland, with four events, including a concert in Koblenz and a sing in Cologne cathedral; click here to see photos from the tour.
